Welcome to the 8th edition of CTO & CHIP Vall’Academy, a leading educational event in interventional cardiology.
Over the years, Vall’Academy has grown into a unique space with several workshops every year, more than 25 international experts and over 150 attendees. Those who have already joined know this is not just another meeting.
CHIP VALL ACADEMY 2026
In 2026, we stay true to our core values: a very practical, hands-on approach, humble face-to-face discussions, and a truly collaborative and interactive environment where every question and every strategy is welcome.
Learn from six outstanding international experts in CTO & CHIP, all of them deeply involved in complex PCI, clinical practice, research and education:
CHIP VALL ACADEMY 2026
Dr. Anja Øksnes (Norway)
Interventional cardiologist at Haukeland University Hospital (Bergen). Expert in CTOs and CHIP, intravascular imaging and TAVI, and principal investigator of the international Complex CTO trial (InvestCTO). Member of EuroCTO Club, EAPCI and 4C.
Dr. Margaret B. McEntegart (USA/UK)
Director of Complex PCI and CTO Programmes and Director of Cardiac Catheterization Laboratories at Columbia University Irving Medical Center / NewYork–Presbyterian Hospital (New York, US). Previously led the CTO and Complex PCI Programme at Golden Jubilee National Hospital (UK).
Dr. Alexander Nap (Amsterdam, The Netherlands)
Interventional cardiologist at VU University Medical Center, specialized in complex PCI and CTO procedures, with a strong academic track record in atherosclerosis and ischaemic syndromes and extensive teaching and course-directing experience.
Dr. Bilal Iqbal (Canada)
Interventional cardiologist at Royal Jubilee Hospital (Victoria, BC) and Professor of Medical Sciences at the University of Victoria. High-volume complex PCI operator with a special interest in CTO intervention, thrombosis mechanisms, novel PCI/CTO techniques, rotational atherectomy and transcoronary pacing.
Dr. Shunsuke Matsuno (Japan)
Interventional cardiologist and Manager of the Cardiovascular Medicine Department at The Cardiovascular Institute Hospital (Tokyo). Coronary course director of CCT (Complex Cardiovascular Therapeutics) and fellow of the Asia-Pacific CTO Club, with major interests in chronic total coronary occlusions and complex coronary lesions.
Dr. Kambis Mashayekhi (Germany)
Deputy Medical Director of General and Interventional Cardiology, Department of Cardiology and Angiology II, University Heart Center Freiburg–Bad Krozingen. World-renowned CTO specialist, co-director of MLCTO and EuroCTO courses and board member of EuroPCR, with a strong focus on training in complex PCI.
Dr. Ignacio Amat-Santos (Spain)
Chief of the Cardiac Catheterization & Interventional Cardiology Unit, Cardiology Department – Institute of Heart Sciences (ICICOR), Hospital Clínico Universitario de Valladolid.
Dr. Jorge Sanz (Spain)
Interventional cardiologist at Hospital La Fe in Valencia, Spain.
Together, they ensure a high-level, yet down-to-earth educational atmosphere, tailored to interventional cardiologists who want to refine their CTO and CHIP skills.
In 2026, CTO & CHIP Vall’Academy offers three intensive 2-day workshops, all on-site and fully interactive:
CHIP VALL ACADEMY 2026
February 26–27, 2026
A deep dive into CTO and complex PCI decision-making, with case-based sessions, discussion of strategies and room for questions at every step.
June 22–23, 2026
Focus on complex PCI and CHIP, intravascular imaging, physiology and structural heart interfaces, translating cutting-edge evidence and trial data into everyday practice.
September 28–29, 2026
Advanced CTO and high-risk PCI techniques, including novel approaches, complication management and practical tips from high-volume operators.
Across the three workshops, the programme will cover key themes such as:
Chronic total occlusion (CTO) revascularization
High-risk PCI (CHIP)
Intravascular imaging and coronary physiology
TAVI and complex structural–coronary scenarios
Rotational atherectomy and other plaque-modifying techniques
New CTO/PCI tools, techniques and “how I do it” sessions
At Vall’Academy, everything can be asked and every strategy can be questioned.
CHIP VALL ACADEMY 2026
We structure the course around:
Practical, hands-on learning with real-world CTO & CHIP cases
Humble, face-to-face discussions with international experts
A genuinely collaborative environment where everyone is here to both learn and teach
A highly interactive format, encouraging honest dialogue about complications, failures and alternative solutions
